The Guardian vs. Boris

September 23, 2009

The Guardian really have something against Mayor Boris. A avid twitterer @chickerino found, the amount of articles against the Mayor, considerably supported by one of its main bloggers Dave Hill, is getting quite substantial. Here’s a screenshot of the top discussed articles today:

My One Piece of Advice

March 26, 2009

guybaumannMy One Piece of Advice is a site dreamt up by Guy Baumann, asking public figures to give one piece of advice in order to help the rest of us. A noble idea, Boriswatch thinks.
He’s asked 19 public figures so far – and only one has bothered to reply. Can anyone guess which one?
Yep, it’s our very own Boris Johnson! Here’s the jubilant blog post from Guy. Boris’s pearls of wisdom are these:

“Work hard and never give up.”

I think we can all agree with that, can’t we, Boriswatchers?

Royal Academy of Arts speech online

January 26, 2009

Many of us are not lucky enough to listen to one of the many private function speeches Boris does. However, the Royal Academy of Arts has put a recent Boris speech online for everyone to listen to. Here’s the link: Happy listening!

Ode to Boris Johnson

January 24, 2009

Every so often, a keen Boriswatcher spots a tribute to Boris that has escaped our attention. Reader vicky2love discovered the following charming poem dedicated to Boris on Youtube. Admittedly, you may have to make your own mind up whether it’s pro- or anti-Bozza, but it’s definitely amusing.

Random and Competing Forces of Nature

December 18, 2008

borishairNo, that’s not what determines the legislation that comes out of the Mayoral office — it’s how good ol’ BoJo described his barnet upon winning an award for best celebrity hair this week.

And rightly so. We here at BorisWatch towers have always been rather a fan of Boris’s do — in fact, several of our interns sport an identical cut — and so we feel the only question to be asked is why he didn’t win it sooner.

On a side note… the two ‘most offensive’ haircuts in the country apparently belong to Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross. Now we’d hate to cast aspersions about the validity of the results (especially given that we can kind of see where the pollsters are coming from), but I’m sure we’re not the only ones who suspect a wee bit of political voting creeping into the mix. Not that that’s a bad thing, of course… if anything, it proves that Boris is popular with the voting public — albeit with the possible exception of barbers.

What do you think? Will we see a plethora of thatched-roof style haircuts being paraded around the country by this time next week? Or is Boris’s style really one of a kind? Let us know in the comments.

Dreams Of Boris

April 19, 2008

A light-hearted – if slightly disturbing – website has popped up on the Boriswatch radar this morning. I Dream Of Boris is a site where visitors can submit their Boris-themed dreams. They range for innocent and innocuous to… well, something more carnal. Have a look – although we felt slightly tarnished afterwards.

Boris For Mayor – the official unofficial song!

February 17, 2008

We have few idle moments here at Boriswatch Towers. But we’ve managed to string a few of those idle moments together to produce a wonderful little ditty in favour of the Big Bozza! Here, Ladies and gentlefolk, is the world premiere of “Boris For Mayor” – The Song! Watch out for the guest pigeon…

Don’t forget to Wear Boris – visit the BorisShop today!

UPDATE: Well, this IS going well. It’s in the top 50 most downloaded political videos on Youtube this week, and it’s been picked up by Sky’s Adam Boulton, ConservativeHome and BackBoris! Here’s some websites linking to the song:

Boris is a Clothing Hero

January 2, 2008

The clothing brand St Roker – tagline “Fine Attire for the Fast and Louche” – has found a fine fan in Boris Johnson, and to that end have sent Boriswatch their interview with Boris, which finds him on fine form. Have a read: St Roker: Heroes.

Mac will never be back…

November 3, 2006

Since the official Boris Johnson site first became an outrageously popular blog – second only, of course, to Boriswatch’s standing – there has been a little community building up, with regulars posting… well, regularly. Sadly, one of the best of those, Macarnie, has passed away recently (on my birthday, strangely), and while I didn’t know him beyond the amazing poems and prose he spooned into his comments, it seems he will be hugely missed by many. The official site has a post dedicated to him, and there are many others mourning his passing. Boriswatch tips its hat in sadness.

Boris Lookalike?

June 22, 2004
corin.jpg

Boriswatch reader Clive announced that he had a colleague who was the spitting image of Boris. I challenged him, he produced the goods. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you…. Corin! To top off his claim, Clive says, “Corin is big into ’spinning’, it ties in
nicely with Boris and his bicycle”. What do you think, readers? Can anyone better this young man?
