When they run a fantastically efficient investigation, and trap a million pound drug ring or find a serial killer, it passes without comment. The police are always in a no win situation and it is good that the Mayor speaks up for coppers, because frankly they have a hell of a job these days. Much of their work is extremely dangerous and so many of them are unsung heroes.
