60 seconds with Boris

November 24, 2007

Boris gave an interview with Metro answering a lot of questions regarding the impending Mayorship. Get the lowdown here, including this classic quote: “I’d quite like the life of a male elephant seal. They are incredible. They dive to prodigious depths.”

Pushy Parents: Boris gets lyrical

Boris Book: The Perils of Pushy ParentsBoris has released a book of poetry, can you believe.
The Perils of the Pushy Parents: A Cautionary Tale
is a light-hearted romp through a story of ambitious family life, and even features illustrations by Bozza. Who’d have thought?! Sadly, the reviews have been… what can I say…. “mixed”…

Disquiet over quiet Boris

- ConservativeHome reports on some disquiet in the Boris For Mayor camp over the lack of positive Mayoral thrusts coming from Boris recently. ConservativeHome has its ear very firmly in the Tory camp, so this is a worrying development for those in support of Boris. It briefly cite “commercial obligations” for the lull in activity – could it be that the “two-horses-one-arse” syndrome is rearing its ugly head again?!

News Roundup 2 – Websites, influence and more

Following on from News Roundup 1 – a burgeoning series disguising considerable procrastination on Boriswatch’s part – here’s another roundup of recent Boris stories…

- Boris loses out on “Best Designed Website” award – narrowly – to Paul Flynn, MP for Newport West. How that happened, we’ll never know. it appears Paul’s favourite colour is green.
- 13 is Boris’s favourite poll rating number. After coming 13th in a poll to find the wittiest people in history, he’s now come 13th in The Right’s Most Influential People. Quite a respectable score, we reckon…
- Slightly less respectable is the revelation that Boris was caught on his mobile phone while driving a dodgy car by the Sunday Mirror…
- Boris sums up Gordon Brown’s election indecision brilliantly: “He’s sat so long on the fence that the iron has entered his soul.”

News Roundup 1 – Henley, burgers and more

November 20, 2007

So, when Boriswatch has been away, the Boris news keeps flowing. Since Boris’s hike up the Mayoral slope, news comes think and fast about the man – much of it unremarkable. Here’s a brief summary of the more eye-catching points:

- Boris Johnson may fight to stay on as an MP, says The Telegraph, leading to claims of “Two Jobs Johnson“. Depending on which way you’re leaning, this revelation can either be seen as a show of loyalty or a sign of wavering commitment to the Mayoral job. Boriswatch has both feet firmly in the first camp, obviously.
- It turns out that Boris can rely on free meals from Gourmet Burger Kitchen – but Ken not so much.
- ConservativeHome, the large-and-still-growing Tory blog, asks Boris a few questions about his mayoral ambitions.
- DigitalSpy reports that Boris came 13th in a poll to find the wittiest people in history. THIRTEENTH?!
- “British Political Analysis” unearths a stunningly comic picture of a scowling Boris above some heavy traffic.

Boris voted King of Style!

November 12, 2007

Boris in a togaNews that jibbers Boriswatch’s laughter muscles – Boris has been voted King of Style in a poll conducted by The Kingly Club. Boris has always had a unique style of his own, and now this is plainly being realised. Long may his off-centre ties continue…

The Fumbulator

November 2, 2007

It must be strange watching Boris when you’re not from the UK. If you stumbled on him for the first time, you’d be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss was. That’s certainly the case for the Governor of California, a certain Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was unfortunately caught commenting on Boris’s presentational style whiole waiting for his live video linkup at the Tory conference. Here’s the clip in all it’s glory…
