Bad news for supported of the Boris For Rector campaign – The Telegraph reports he has lost his fight to become Rector of Edinburgh University. I’m sure Boris4Rector will have an update soon, but in the meantime Boris has posted his reaction on his official site.
Comments rssIt was always going to be a difficuly position to fill, but Boriswatch has exclusive word that Matthew d’Ancona, deputy editor of the Sunday Telegraph. From the press release just moments ago:
“Andrew Neill, The Spectator’s chief executive, and Aidan Barclay, the chairman of the magazine’s owner Press Holdings, are believed to have chosen D’Ancona ahead of Scotland on Sunday editor Iain Martin and The Economist’s US editor John Micklethwait.
Neill described D’Ancona as one of Britain’s foremost political commentators, and said: “He combines the requisite political gravitas and insight with the wit and originality that the post requires.”

Comments rssHot on the heels of Boris’s “Rome” mini-series, it seems there is going to be a documentary on Boris’s early life in the near future. Filming is taking place now – hopefully Boriswatch will get some information on timings soon.
Also – Boriswatch is up in the Big Smoke this morning for an television interview with ITV – discussing the great community here and on the web in general. Again, no idea when or if it’ll be broadcast – stay tuned…!
