Boris says awesome things...

On Amazon.co.uk they have posted this synopsis of Boris’ new novel. It is due to be published in September.

Seventy-Two Virgins is a comic political novel, with similar appeal to Stephen Fry or Ben Elton, written by one of Britain’s most popular politicians. It is Boris Johnson’s first novel. To much fanfare, the American President is on an inaugural visit to the Houses of Parliament. Our hero, a hapless MP on a bicycle, gets caught up in the ferocious security arrangements. A stolen ambulance runs into trouble with the Westminster Parking Authorities. A man, born in Lebanon but going by the name of Jones, manages to persuade his way through the barriers. The best sharpshooter in the United States is enlisted and stationed on the roof of the building adjoining Westminster Hall. Henry VIII’s tennis ball gets caught up in the melee. These disparate parts meet head-on – and the events are broadcast live on worldwide television.

Boriswatch reader Clive announced that he had a colleague who was the spitting image of Boris. I challenged him, he produced the goods. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you…. Corin! To top off his claim, Clive says, “Corin is big into ‘spinning’, it ties in

Boris is never far from the headlines. This time, he rather carelessly managed to catch the wrong train to North Norfolk, a fact that the tabloids had a field day with. Iain Dale was right in the action, and details his time with Boris in his post “A Day on Planet Boris” (and how he “prepared for Boris“. Splendid stuff. (thanks to Iain himself for the heads-up)

Belated news reaches Boriswatch (via good egg Simon Fairthorne) that Boris was once assaulted with a bun. Yes, readers, it’s hard to believe, but bun-thrower Eleanor Hards chucked the missile at Boris during a dinner in 2002, and was swiftly reprimanded like the naughty woman she is. The flipside of website popularity: bandwidth costs. Thank you so much to all the people who’ve contributed since the BBC linked to the site – and I hope you all continue to visit. Boris is turning forty on Saturday, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, Boriswatch has slipped the BBC a fiver and managed to write a late night eulogy to the great man, posted on their Magazine website.
